Like the majority of blogs out there, I’ve neglected mine…
Being lead character artist at THQ, my time is completely taken up by all things game production related….oh I miss the simple days as a senior artist.
Still, I’m working towards a few personal projects now that production on our game is under control….promise
Oh and to prove I’m that focused on doing personal work, I’m even looking at buying a 2nd Cintiq for home, as mine is in the studio….insanity I know.
I just love them too much.

The nice guys at Pixologic (Zbrush) invited me to show my work in their turnaround gallery.
Now you can spin my models around, weee…
Been super lazy since I’ve been up north in sunny Port Douglas.
Too much drinking, sun and fishing….not in that order
Here’s some VERY early work.

Just a quick female anatomy study.
Still haven’t finalized the proportions. But have it to a point where it’s a decent base mesh to start future female characters.
Will complete her later……maybe

Based on the female Death Knight from warcraft.
She’s not far past a basemesh, just trying to nail her overall proportions and look first.
Have a very specific shot/render planned for her.

Well I left Krome studios to freelance and build my folio, and will start looking for a full time position soon.
I also had to get a reel together by request.
Planning on building up a alot more work over the next few moths, and releasing a far ‘fuller’ reel.
Anyway, hope you enjoy this reel for now.

Watched the E3 teaser trailer for Mass Effect 2, man I love the alien designs in that game.
Inspired me to do this quick alien head sketch. Very rough at the moment.
Barely get time to do this kind of stuff, but will try and do up a finished version this week.

He’s all kinda skull looking, but he’s really a nice guy!
He’s based off a rough sketch by Paul Richards – http://autodestructdigital.blogspot.com. I love his work…and women.

He’s an nasty mutant angler fish guy. I just call him Fishman.
Still have heaps to do on him, just starting to rough in the cloth and other body details. He’s also missing some parts, including his weapon.

Haven’t been very productive as I’ve been away on holidays.
This guy needs no introduction, he’s a piece of personal work I done last year.
The render is of his game model, approx 11k tris with the usual diffuse,spec and normal maps.

Not bad for a real time preview.

Here’s a super rough demo video of a Head Generator tool I created for a games studios.
The character team loved it and now use it for a lot of their personal work.
The video doesn’t show all the features, as this is just intended as a rough test video until I create a polished version for my reel.
(The human heads posted earlier used this tool)
